Statement which was prepared for the award ceremony and which gives the reasons for awarding the films: A moving and realistic film about life, told in a simple and engaging way, with a slow rythm. We can feel the directors love for his characters, perfectly acted by a perfect cast.

Don Quixote was awarded to the Russian film 'Volchok' by Vasili Sigarev. The citation read -
For its realistic depiction of a relentlessly depressing story - thanks to superb acting and an excellent script - the film chosen by the IFFS jury may be a rude punch in the face whilst at the same time being visually beautifully orchestrated and featuring a child actor far above other good child actors, whose performance was heart-wrenching as everything turned darker and darker, losing colour and light for her and her mother. There is bravey in giving us a film that has no redemption and no chink of light at the end. For all of these reasons we are proud to award the FICC Don Quixote to Volchok.
